Safeguarding

Church Stretton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  We have a Code of Conduct for all visitors to the school. This is on display in Reception and details our arrangements and expectations of visitors.  Child Protection is central to what we do. You will notice in the bottom of the Homepage that we have provided a hyper link to the Shropshire Safeguarding Children Board website, where any concerns can be raised, or by clicking here.

The school has a Whole School Safeguarding Policy, and associated procedures in place to ensure that Safeguarding / Child Protection issues are dealt with efficiently and appropriately.

All staff, including our support staff, visitors, and volunteers are made aware of our procedures, and parents / carers are welcome to read the policy located in our Policies secion of the website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will always ensure that our concerns about our students are discussed with their parents/carers first, unless there is reason to believe that this is not in the student’s best interests.

If you have a concern about a child, particularly if you think s/he may be suffering or at risk of suffering harm, it is your responsibility to share the information promptly with:

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Mr T. Ward

Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads
Miss E. Lea
Mr M. Longhurst

Finally you may be aware of the Government’s Prevent Strategy which has been introduced to address issues of pupils who may be at risk of radicalisation. We have recently reviewed our programme of study in Personal, Social & Health Education (PSHE) and now include topics on British Values and the dangers of extremism. Please be assured that in all this work we are aiming to give pupils the confidence, knowledge and skills to make informed choices about keeping safe.
