GCSE Results
We want to ensure you are fully informed about the available post-exam options, particularly special consideration and review of marking processes. These are designed to support students who may have been affected by unexpected circumstances or who wish to query their results.
🎓 1. Special Consideration
If your child experienced any of the following during the exam period:
- Illness or injury
- Bereavement
- Family crisis
- Mental health difficulties
- Other exceptional circumstances
They may be eligible for special consideration, which can result in a small adjustment to their final marks.
🔹 What you need to know:
- The school must apply on the student’s behalf.
- Applications must be submitted within 7 days of the affected exam.
- Evidence (e.g. medical note, counsellor’s letter) may be required.
- It does not guarantee a grade change.
If your child was affected and the school has not already been made aware, please contact us as soon as possible.
📝 2. Review of Marking (Enquiries About Results)
If your child believes a subject result is incorrect or lower than expected, you can request a:
- Clerical check – to ensure marks were added correctly.
- Review of marking – a full remark by another examiner.
🔹 Important notes:
- Requests must be submitted through the school.
- There may be a fee (unless the grade changes).
- Grades can go up, down, or stay the same.
- It is possible to request a copy of the marked script before deciding.
If you are considering a review, please contact us promptly to meet exam board deadlines, which are typically in early to mid-September.
